Forest Fire

Monday 17th July § Leave a comment

A plume of smoke rose above Tirabad, a slightly darker shade of gray against the layer of clouds that lay along the horizon that grew as it climbed straight into the sky. At three a passing fire-engine was mistaken for an ambulance. At 5 o’clock another fire engine went through and the fire was seen to have spread to the south.

This is the first forest fire that I can remember in the area having lived in the same village for 16 years. It’s hard not to interperate this as an effect of global warming suddenly striking closer to home.
